In our series "Good morning from..." we introduce you to our favorite places for breakfast . Today we will show you in which restaurants in Vienna we enjoy the best meal of the day!
Vienna, the capital of Austria, is located directly on the beautiful blue Danube. Its artistic and intellectual heritage was shaped by residents such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Sigmund Freud. Vienna is known for its imperial palaces, such as Schönbrunn Palace and the summer residence of the Habsburgs. In the MuseumsQuartier, works by Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, among others, can be seen in historical and modern buildings.
For our colleague, a native Viennese, there is nothing better than walking through the city center of Vienna, sipping their morning coffee and looking forward to breakfast.
Vienna has many different cafes and restaurants to offer when it comes to breakfast. We are now introducing the first part of our favorite Viennese restaurants to you:
Motto am Fluss
Motto am Fluss is located directly on the Danube Canal, in Vienna's city center. The building is also the jetty of the Twin City Liner, the ship connection between Vienna and Bratislava in Slovakia. From the underground station "Schwedenplatz," Motto am Fluss can be reached in a few minutes. In the photo below you can see the café with the sun terrace, which can be found on the upper deck. The café focuses on the fresh preparation of the food, as well as the use of regional and organic ingredients. The breakfast highlights that can be found on the menu stand out in particular. There are also smoothies, homemade lemonades, and homemade bread.

Tastery
In the Tastery in the Schottenfeld district, there are a variety of new products to try – free of charge. Discover, taste, and take away right away. If you are looking for something new, special, and innovative, you will certainly find it in the Tastery. Tastery, the culinary boutique specializing in new products and tastings, changes its product range every month – from exquisite gin brands, exotic insects, delicacies to vegan rarities for breakfast .
Since July 2019, breakfast has also been offered at the Tastery. There really is something for everyone here. From the classic hearty "Tasty Tastery Breakfast" to the vegan and gluten-free chocolate banana porridge from Verival with pomegranate seeds and date syrup, to the "Wachauer Spezial" with real Wachauer apricot jam and Viennese kipferl or the "Chives Special" with egg in the glass and farmhouse bread with chives.

Edison
"There was a café here 90 years ago. It was called Edison. We only know one photo of it. And the joy in the face of a passerby when we tell him that a Café Edison is being built here again. He still remembers... " This is how the charming Edison restaurant in Vienna's 8th district introduces itself on its website. The Edison is located near the old General Hospital and the University of Vienna. It offers a super tasty brunch on Sundays (attention, July & August is summer break). Breakfast is always à la carte, on Sundays from 9 am.

Spelunke
"What has she ridden to call a new, neatly cobbled-together restaurant, Spelunke?! The Devil? The Danube Canal God? Or just the dirty fantasy?" – With these words, found on their homepage, the Spelunke introduces itself. We do not know exactly why they were christened Spelunke, because the restaurant on the Vienna Danube Canal is anything but by definition a "poorly maintained, disreputable restaurant". The pub stands out above all for its casual furnishings and decoration, unusual murals, atmospheric lighting, and an extraordinarily cosy ambience. Every corner offers something new to discover.
Their breakfast menu invites you to indulge in a "portion of immoderation and debauchery":
