Your child does not want breakfast? No desire, no hunger, or is something else just more important than breakfast?
Of course, we all know that a
healthy breakfast for children
provides a necessary foundation for the day, as we need important nutrients and energy, whether large or small.
We adults should therefore lead by example and have breakfast together with the children. The ideal children's breakfast should be healthy and wholesome, and it should also taste good to the children. If it looks funny and tasty, another positive point has already been collected.
But is that feasible? Is there the perfect breakfast for children – which is healthy, tasty, and also fun to eat? In the following post, we have collected some useful information and tips to start the day healthy and well as a family!
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Does this also apply to children?
Yes, especially for children, breakfast is the be-all and end-all. In the morning, children have only low reserves of glycogen, the storage form for glucose, in the liver and muscles. Therefore, it is particularly important that they replenish the energy stores emptied overnight.
Especially in the morning, whether at school or daycare, many challenges await your offspring. Sport, play, learning, and all other important developmental factors. Without the necessary blood sugar levels, energy, and vitamins, your child's activities and any development are severely limited.
Children are still developing, moving, and have to learn, understand, and implement a lot. So a healthy breakfast for children is indispensable so that the morning low does not stand a chance. If you look at yourself, you will find yourself quickly pushing a sweet candy bar into your mouth to quickly get new energy. Occasionally, that's fine. It's unhealthy in the long run, whether for big or small.
Allow plenty of time for little mornings
Are you smiling while reading this? Very good. Even among us adults, there are many "morning mumbles." Many would like to sleep for a long time, get up just before, brush their teeth, get dressed, and go to work. But to avoid hustle and bustle, plan enough time to start your day in peace and enjoy breakfast together without haste.
By the way, this also creates a good mood for everyone around you. Most adults are good at estimating when they need to get up to get through the day without a rush. Children are still in the learning process here, so it is all the more important to be a good role model for them.
For us at VERIVAL, the morning is the most beautiful part of the day, and breakfast is much more than just a meal. However, not everyone can share this sentiment, and some children have a tendency to be "morning mumbles" at a very young age. Time management is an essential factor here!
A good, healthy breakfast and enough time to enjoy it is the basic building block for a high-energy, quiet start to the day.
Routine is important here. An additional 15 minutes can mean a change at the beginning, but it has the potential to turn a hectic start to the day into a cozy and enjoyable meal.
Varied breakfast for children
The eye eats with it, which is no different in children than in adults. The well-remembered phrase from our own parents, "it's so healthy!" still rings in our ears. We're just secretly rolling our eyes at it, right? Therefore, it is all the more important to make breakfast not only healthy and tasty; it should also look inviting. There is no limit to the fantasy of garnishing breakfast.

Funny faces made of vegetables, fruit, and also nuts ( cashew , almonds, chia seeds ) or berries ( cranberries , raspberries , strawberries,...) are more likely to attract a child to the breakfast table than a dish that is just lovelessly placed, right? And let's be honest: you also love it when it's appetizingly prepared. Depending on the age or maturity of the child, you can also cut and garnish together with the child.
Creativity creates a good mood at the breakfast table
Fun and a good mood also help whet your appetite. So that you don't have to plan too much time, you can also make small preparations the night before. If the children are allowed to actively participate in breakfast, they not only learn healthy, varied nutrition, but it also promotes their creativity.
The child can prepare apples and bananas as decoration for the porridge or decorate the cereal nicely. Thus, your child is in a good mood, starts the day creatively, and is strengthened with healthy vitamins and nutrients.

VERIVAL breakfast provides variety and tastes!
Where, for example, can you get an organically certified, low-sugar, and yet so varied breakfast for children? That was exactly the aim of the Tyrolean organic manufactory VERIVAL in the development of their children's breakfast products . "All parents know that 'healthy' alone does not do much if the food is refused by the little ones. We believe that the concerns of the parents and the wishes of the children must be taken equally seriously," explains founder Wolfgang Fojtl.
That is why VERIVAL has sought help in the preparation of recipes from representatives of both "parties": on the one hand, through extensive scientific input from nutrition experts and, on the other hand, through practical tastings of children aged 6-10 years. "This allowed us to ensure that the products only contain as little sugar as necessary, but still clearly meet the taste preferences of the little ones," says Wolfgang Fojtl.
